Behind the Name: Tayozola
Where the name comes from, what it means to us, and the thinking behind how we built the brand.
People ask about the name often. It doesn't fit neatly into the pattern of most tech company names — no dropped vowels, no compound words, no abstract noun pretending to be an identity. Tayozola is a real word, with a real origin, and it means something to us.
Where it comes from
Tayozola is rooted in Yoruba — a language spoken by tens of millions of people across West Africa, particularly in Nigeria and Benin. The name carries the meaning of strength, endurance, and the idea that what is built to last will last. It's a name that speaks to foundation — not flash.
We didn't want a name that sounded like a product. We wanted a name that sounded like a place — somewhere you could belong.
Why it matters for the brand
When we were building out the brand, we kept coming back to the same tension: the infrastructure world tends to name things after abstract concepts or Greek mythology, as if scale and power are the only things worth communicating. We wanted something different.
Tayozola grounds us. It reminds us that the work we're doing — building reliable systems for real people — is about more than uptime percentages. It's about trust. And trust is built over time, quietly, through consistency.
The three domains
The name also allowed us to build something architecturally interesting: three distinct properties under one identity. Tayozola.net handles the network and infrastructure side. Tayozola.org holds our community and giving work. Tayozola.com is where the broader company story lives.
Each domain has its own character, its own audience, and its own purpose — but they share a name and a set of values. That structure was intentional from the start.
What it means going forward
We're still early. The brand is young, the products are in beta, and we're learning as we go. But the name has been an anchor through all of it — a reminder of what we're building toward and why it matters.
If you've ever wondered what we're about, the name is a good place to start.
